Halloween Fun

Old McDonald had a farm and on that farm was a pretty little calf and a handsome little duckling! This weekend we all dressed up and did some early trick-or-treating. This was the first year Francis and I decided to get in on the fun, Kynzley LOVED it!!! She was so excited to help pick out our farmer clothes :) It was a last minute idea do to Kynzley changing her mind last minute - as in Tuesday morning (knowing we needed it for Saturday). Her original Halloween costume was going to be a pink puppy poodle, she was set on it. I had everything I needed to make it and 'Boom!' she changed her mind and wanted to be a calf. Okay?! That only gave me a couple days to gather what I needed and get things painted and made. Luckily, it didn't take too long to make! I think we all came out looking pretty good :)

We headed to the Enchanted Forest on Saturday afternoon to show off our farmer wear. The weather was WONDERFUL and the scenery was beautiful! The location this year was new, even though it was a beautiful location it wasn't very accommodating. This year McKenna got to join us in the fun - she was a beautiful kitten! The girls had so much fun gathering candy and seeing all the "enchanted" characters. They also got to enjoy music and animals at the end. Benton snoozed through most of the trick-or-treating, but still showed off his cuteness :)

Fun fall updates

We've been keeping plenty busy! Kynzley has this week off from extra curricular's, but we start right back up next week! She finished up gymnastics strong - she's pretty confident with her cartwheel :), and ended her cooking class feeling like a professional chef! She was pretty pumped to bring home a cook book on the last night of class, now we can recreate all the yummy things she made! Next on her agenda is swimming, science class and basketball.
Kynzley is still going strong in school! She LOVES to learn and is great at taking in information. We had conferences a couple weeks ago and we were told all good things - of course! She tends to be ahead of most of her peers. She is great with numbers and loves to do (simple) math. At times she sneaks in math when we least expect it - adding things that we are talking about in our conversations. Right now she is SUPER into reading and letters! During conferences her teacher noted that Kynzley whizzed through her numbers, letters, shapes, colors, ect. so they thought they would try something different and random - letter sounds and what things start with - she got it! The other morning during breakfast she sounded out the letters on her cereal box, she got the word all on her own! Go Kynzley!
All bundled up ready to wait for the school bus

This has turned into ........

Benton is growing and growing fast (enter mixed emotions!). He's four months old going on 16. He is definitely a different baby than Kynzley was. She was super scheduled and LLLLOOOVVEEEDDDD sleep - still does. She depended on it and still does. Benton on the other hand - sleeps great at night, but is afraid he will miss out on something during the day if he closes his eyes. He's super nosy! Has to be included in everything and if he's not he lets you know how he feels. He has sat in the "big kid" part of the stroller for a while now - had to move him because if he sat in the infant part he screamed because he couldn't see. Now he doesn't make a peep. He's still a mommy's boy and its still BIG TIME! He's getting better with daddy, but has his moments. I know its mean (very mean) but I do (occasionally) get joy when daddy has Benton and Benton is screaming and he hands him over, Benton looks at daddy and laughs. A moment of 'I got what I wanted - sucker!' Lol! He's enjoying tummy time more, I think it's because he can roll so he can get out of it when he feels like it not when the 'rentals' tell him it's okay. He adores his sister and will be chasing after her in no time!!!

I was in the process of doing my hair, must have looked scary because every time I turned and looked at him this was the expression I got - ha!

Sister making him pretty already!

This is where he likes to be, in his mommy's arms

For real? The 'big kid' part of the stroller?! Stop growing so fast!!!!

What? I'm just hanging out in the swing the way I want too. Nope, not safe!

Our favorite time of the year!

I would say this is probably our favorite time of the year! We love trying to fit in all that fall has to offer - apple orchards, pumpkin patches, enjoying days where you can  play outside all day without over heating or freezing to death, snuggling up at night in cozy blankets and the smell of the yummy dishes in the crock-pot!

Last Friday Benton and I tagged a long with Kynzley's class to the apple orchard. It was a perfect day to snack on apples and play with friends! We took a wagon ride up through the orchard and listened to Farmer Tom talk a little about all the different kinds of apples and all the kids got to pick their perfect apple to munch on. How did Kynzley know she had the perfect apple? Because it had the right sounding crunch when she bit into it!

Nap time + sun being in Benton's eyes = very upset brother!

On Saturday the weather was BEAUTIFUL! It was the perfect day to hit the pumpkin patch! We've gone to the same pumpkin patch since Kynzley was a baby, it was fun to introduce Benton to our family tradition! He was so thrilled he slept through most of it. Kynzley had a blast, like always, picking out the perfect pumpkins for everyone. She even went all out this year on decorating her pumpkin - she's so creative!
