One Last Hurrah!

Summer is coming to an end ... as of tomorrow! We decided to take one last summer family vacation last week and headed up to northern Wisconsin. It was great to get away and relax before the hustle and bustle of school and activities start. The weather was great, it felt so much like fall! We enjoyed beach time, fishing on the lake, lots of nightly walks looking for deer and exploring the area, bonfires and s'mores and creating fun memories! We are hoping to make this a yearly tradition!

Fish # 1 Kynzley was the first one to catch a fish .... she was also the only one to catch anything all day

Fish #2 Bigger than her first! She also hooked a small mouth bass but while trying to get it all the way to the boat it slipped away. Looks like mommy has some good competition!

She kissed both before tossing them back

One morning we enjoyed some wild life at the Wilderness Walk. The kids loved it!

The deer just loved her! They were roaming all over and seemed to find her often for some loving :) #animalwhisperer

Benton stepped out of his comfort zone and fed all the animals

After packing up the car, we hit the road and headed over to Minnesota to visit family! Unfortunately, our visit was cut short do the fact that we all felt crumby. Even Francis felt icky - the worst out of all of us actually. The time we did get to spend with everyone was great and the kids, like always, had a great time!

Lucy gave Brutus lots of attention. It was great practice for the pup being around such a little one! He did great and was super patient and shared his toys great ;)

We took a trip out to visit grandma and grandpa's farm before heading home. The kids had so much fun running around and being free!

Heading out with grandpa to check on the animals

Side note:
Kynzley was a monkey this year in the summer drama camp of the Jungle Book! The past two years she has really enjoyed being on the stage!

Introducing .....

BRUTUS! We welcomed Brutus, our English Mastiff pup, to our family last Sunday. He's been a joy and seems to be fitting in perfectly with our busy bunch!

It's been a year and a half since Cody passed away. We think about him daily and miss him tons! After taking a little pet hiatus, we finally - as a family-, agreed it was time to get another pup in the house. It took awhile to determine what breed we wanted and what we felt would fit best with our family and lifestyle. After agreeing we could not go smaller than Cody we truly only had one choice an English Mastiff!

Brutus has been a great puppy so far! It took about 48 hours for him to catch on to sitting at the back door when needing to go potty, has done great since! When we picked Brutus up (from Iowa), we took a puppy pillow with that he rode home on. That pillow moves all over the house. It is his go to spot. We carry it up the stairs, down the stairs - wherever it is he finds it and lays. He's playful with the kids and so far shows big signs of being a mamas boy!

We tend to keep Brutus pretty busy. He's experienced boating and swimming on the river, playing at the park, lots of walks and hanging out at Nana and Papa's house and puppy play dates. We have to start him early if he's going to keep up with this crazy bunch :)

Kynzley and I gave Brutus a quick bath one morning - first and last time in the sink!

Kynzley picked out this snuggly for Brutus. It's his favorite!

He learned that the vents let out cold air, LOVES to lay on them!

First time out on the boat

The kids were having fun running around in the water, Brutus did not want to be left out!
Swimming!

This is Brutus's dad - big boy!! Weighs in at 200lbs and it's all LOVE! He was an amazing and calm dog. We have fingers crossed that Brutus follows suit!
