Giddy Up Cowgirl

Well, the day has finally come! Kynzley's career as a cowgirl has begun :-) <----- I'm pretty sure this is Kynzley and Francis's plan and they discuss this when not in the presence of mommy because my plans are not the same. We will see where this goes ...... ;)

On Saturday, Kynzley was all prepared to get on a horse and start her lessons! I'm very surprised that she slept the night before. She went through her clothes to pick out the perfect outfit and made sure her boots and helmet were ready!
When we arrived at the stable, Kynzley was not hesitant and was ready to jump right in. She's definitely not timid when it comes to large animals. The light in her eye and the smile on her face were priceless to see as a parent. Kynzley's riding instructor had her start from the very beginning and is having her start learning all the responsibilities right away. After getting her horse all prepped and ready to ride, the fun began! Kynzley jumped right on and was a natural. She has read A LOT of books on horses and riding and training and just taking care of them in general. Her background knowledge showed while she was riding.

She of course loved every minute (besides the cold hands she got) of it!

There was a lesson before her. Waiting patiently.

January Update

It is almost the end of January already, CRAZY! This month has gone by so fast! We have kept busy, that's for sure. When looking at our schedule, we don't seem to be slowing down anytime soon.

We started January off by traveling up north. We enjoyed family time and celebrating Christmas. It's always fun to get together and I get such a joy out of watching all the kiddos play and giggle! It was a quick trip, but we try to make as many memories in the short time as possible.

This game was a HUGE hit over the weekend. As you an see even the adults got into it. Brain Freeze

The traditional Christmas p.j. picture! This year grandma got a new pair as well!

Kynzley has had a couple of snow days this month. We've had absolutely crazy weather so far this year. Snow storms, freezing rain, thunder storms, 50 degree temps, it's been nuts. The kiddos and Brutus enjoy the snow and it makes it a little bit more tolerable listening to the giggle and play in the fresh powder.

A snow day painting project. My little artists!

Kynzley always keeps us busy! A couple weeks ago she participated in a show choir camp - loved every minute of it! It was so fun to watch all the kids perform on the last night. Everyone put on a great show from the littles to the big high schoolers and all the soloists

One of the songs they were doing was a rock 'n roll song. Kynzley, of course, wanted to go all out and requested a mohawk. I did my best and had a happy performer in the end!

Kynzley and two of her classmates

Kynzley and I were so excited that Zoie had a poms competition close to home that we were able to make and cheer her and her team on. They are AWESOME! That have done very well this season in their competitions and being able to see it in person made me completely understand why. These girls have talent and rock the floor like none of their competitors. As a young girl, Zoie always shined on the dance floor and she is carrying it with her through high school. Kynzley LOVES to watch her, as do I!
We were feeling pretty cool before we headed out to watch dance!

Kynzley's great friend Lily has a cousin on the poms team as well! The girls have fun cheering together!

This month also included a quick visit from the Lardners. The visit consisted of the usual adult catch up and McKenna and Kynzley completely disappearing together making fun memories.

Mom brought out our high school prom dresses for the girls to play with.

Some fun randoms:

Brutus had his first weekend sleep over when we headed up north. We are lucky to have a great friend who lets him into his home and act as one of his own. Brutus LOVES all the play time :)

One of Kynzley's fun outfit choices. On this day she felt like looking like bubble gum. I think she succeeded!

Carley has had the honor :) of staying with us the last two weeks. Her and Brutus pretty much do everything together. He is going to miss her when she leaves!

We needed to get out of the house after having a couple snow days in a row! We headed to the children's museum and let off steam!

We had a girls day! Kynzley asked for a special stop at Starbucks and then we headed to Target and to get our hair done!

While having some girl time, the boys had boy time. Playing trains with daddy takes a lot out of a kid. Fell asleep on the couch at 4:30pm

Kynzley had a scheduled day off school so we packed up, took a ride and found some water and slides! No one wanted to leave, but blue lips are a parents sign of time to go - ha!

Christmas 2016

The tree is out, the tinsel is put away and new toys are scattered everywhere! Christmas has come and gone once again. We finished 2016 wonderfully, with friends and family!

We had a great Christmas spent at home. The kiddos were excited to wake up and see what Santa had left them and what gifts mom and dad spoiled them with! This year, Benton completely got the concept of gifts and it was so fun to see. Kynzley was excited to see the things that she had on her list when ripping off the wrapping paper. She  received one special gift that she as not expecting and the joy was SOOOO fun to see!!!

Francis and Kynzley both had a week long break from work and school and kept Benton, Brutus and I company. We enjoyed a couple of movies at the theater, running around the children's museum, Kynzley had an all day sports camp at the local college and just being a family. I know Benton really enjoyed having sissy around all week to play with him!

2016 was a great year! We cannot wait to see what 2017 brings!

Christmas party at school! Leave it to Kynzley to tell me right before bed that she would really like to have reindeer antlers for her party, good thing I always have craft material on hand!!

Mr. Brutus update: Brutus turned 7 months on Dec 30. We did our traditional weigh in and he topped the scales at 101.2lbs!! He's such a good pup! He has been loving the snow - runs around like a crazy dog :) He's great with people and loves to play with other dogs - big or small .... lol okay, all smaller but still!
